Detailed Itinerary: Day by Day
Day 1:
Arrival to Iquitos- Traveling the Amazon River
We will begin our Amazon adventure by picking you up from Iquitos Airport or your hotel. From there, we will take a walking tour through the main attractions of the city of Iquitos, including the Main Square, the Main Church, the Iron House, and several historic mansions from the rubber boom era.
After finishing the city tour, we will board our motorboat and navigate for about 15 minutes along the Itaya River until we reach the Amazon River, the most voluminous river in the world. We will continue sailing until we arrive at the Cumaceba Curaka Inn Lodge.
During the journey, with a bit of luck, we may spot gray and pink river dolphins. Upon arrival at the lodge, we will be welcomed with a typical drink made from seasonal fruit. Afterwards, you will be assigned your room so you can settle in and rest for a while before beginning a guided excursion to explore the incredible biodiversity of flora and fauna of the Peruvian Amazon.
Later, we will enjoy a typical lunch, followed by some free time to take photos or film birds and wildlife.
We will then return to the lodge to enjoy dinner, and afterwards we will begin a night walk through the jungle, where we may observe insects, amphibians, and some nocturnal birds.
Once we arrive at the lodge we'll refresh ourselves with a welcome juice of seasonal local fruits. You'll receive your room assignment and have time to settle yourself before we set off for a hike along a path rich with plants used in the Amazon for centuries as traditional remedies for treating fever, impotence, dressing wounds and more, with sap and resin used as salves, roots steeped for the production of liquours and teas, and more. Our knowledgeable specialized guide will introduce you in this way to local plantlife as well as local culture. The medicinal plants include uña de gato, cat's claw, the large and woody clove vine (named for its smell), blood of the dragon, so-named due to its thick red sap

Discovering Jungle Wildlife: Lodge, Small village called Gallito - Lodge
On the second day of our adventure, we will start very early in the morning to go either walking or by boat (depending on the season) to observe birds. The morning is the best time to see most bird species, including the Hoatzin, which is the only ruminant bird in the world.
We will return to the lodge for breakfast and then visit a local family who raise some animal species such as boas, anacondas, sloths, turtles, among others. During this excursion, we will also visit a small artisanal factory where sugarcane juice is extracted. There, we will have the opportunity to participate in the process and enjoy some beverages made from fresh sugarcane juice.
In the afternoon, we will visit a riverside village called “Gallito” to learn about their lifestyle and share time with the local families. Return to the lodge.

Our first activity of the day will be traditional fishing along the banks of the Amazon River, where, with a bit of luck, we may catch some piranhas, catfish, and other species. We will also be able to admire the Victoria Regia, the largest aquatic plant in the world; it is said that its leaves can support a weight of up to 4 kg.
Afterward, we will return to the lodge for lunch and gather our belongings to begin our journey back to the city of Iquitos.
Along the way, we will make a brief stop at the Bora community, who still preserve their traditional way of life and customs, which we will have the opportunity to experience and be part of for a couple of hours.
