Detailed Itinerary: Day by Day

DAY 1: Arequipa – Mont Blanco Base Camp

The expedition begins with hotel pickup in Arequipa between 8:00 and 8:30 a.m., followed by a transfer in a 4x4 vehicle to the starting point of the hike. During the approximately three-hour journey, we will pass by the Aguada Blanca Reservoir, located at 4,230 meters above sea level, a key water source for the city and a natural habitat for various bird species, including the colorful Andean flamingos (parihuanas).

Upon arrival at the trailhead, we will begin our hike with a gradual ascent to reach the base camp at 4,700 meters above sea level. The trek takes about three hours, during which we will enjoy panoramic views of the mountain range and the characteristic arid landscape of the region.

Once at camp, we will settle in and enjoy an early lunch/dinner at around 4:00 p.m. In the afternoon, our guide will share fascinating insights about the history of Misti Volcano and its neighboring Chachani, creating a moment of rest and camaraderie before the big challenge ahead. The night will be short, as it is essential to regain energy for the early morning summit ascent.
