Detailed Itinerary: Day by Day
Day 1:
Visiting Humantay Lagoon
04:00 AM – 04:30 AM – Hotel Pickup & Drive to Mollepata:
Early morning pickup directly from your hotel in Cusco. Board comfortable private/shared tourist transport for a scenic 2-hour drive to Mollepata village.
06:30 AM – Energetic Breakfast & Check-In:
Arrive in Mollepata to enjoy a nutritious Andean breakfast. Complete registration and checkpoint entry for the Salkantay route.
07:30 AM – Panoramic Drive to Soraypampa Trailhead:
Continue the journey along a rural mountain road (approx. 1 hour) passing rivers and valleys until reaching Soraypampa (3,900 m / 12,795 ft), the trailhead for the trek.
08:30 AM – Start Uphill Trek to Humantay Lake:
Begin a guided uphill hike of approximately 1 to 1.5 hours surrounded by the impressive Vilcabamba mountain range and views of sacred Mount Salkantay.
10:00 AM – Arrival at Humantay Lake (4,200 m / 13,779 ft):
Reach the turquoise alpine lake cradled by the Humantay Glacier. Enjoy approx. 2 hours of free time to explore, take panoramic photos, reflect, and learn about the sacred geological history from your guide.
12:00 PM – Downhill Hike Back to Soraypampa:
