Detailed Itinerary: Day by Day
DAY 1:
Cusco – Mollepata – Soraypampa – Salkantay Pass – Wayrapata
Your high-altitude mountain adventure begins with an early morning pickup from your hotel in Cusco at 04:30 a.m. We will board our comfortable tourist transport for a scenic drive through the rugged landscapes of the Andes, passing through the historic towns of Poroy and Limatambo before arriving at the village of Mollepata. Here, you will have the option to enjoy a delicious local breakfast and purchase last-minute snacks or trekking gear.
Afterward, we continue our drive for another hour to Soraypampa, the striking alpine valley where our trekking team and pack horses await. From this point, beneath the majestic backdrop of the Humantay and Salkantay glaciers, we begin our challenging yet exhilarating ascent toward the famous Salkantay Pass, standing at 4,630 meters (15,190 feet) above sea level. Upon reaching the summit, we will pause to rest and celebrate, taking in the awe-inspiring panoramic vistas of the rugged mountain range and paying respects to one of the most powerful and sacred Apus (mountain protector deities) of the Inca world. After soaking in the raw energy of the high glacier, we begin our descent into the profound mountain valleys. As we hike downward, you will marvel at the dramatic ecological transition as the crisp alpine air fades and gives way to the lush, greener vegetation of the high jungle. Our challenging 7 to 8-hour trekking day concludes as we reach our first remote campsite in Wayrapata, where a freshly prepared, warm gourmet dinner and a well-deserved night of rest under the starry Andean sky await you.

Cusco is a city meant to be explored on foot. Every street holds a story, and as you walk, you feel as though you aren't just "visiting" a city, but rather walking through layers of a living past: the Inca world and the Spanish Baroque, seamlessly blended in stone. That is why, if it is your first time in Cusco, the historic center is one of the best ways to kick off your trip. Additionally, sitting at around 3,400 meters 11,150 feet above sea level, a relaxed stroll helps you acclimate to the altitude, making you feel much better before taking on longer or more demanding excursions.

If you're lucky enough to visit the land of the Incas in June, you'll instantly realize that Cusco brings more to the table than just music, traditional dances, and colorful parades. There’s something else in the air—a rich, savory, and roasted aroma wafting from the main plazas, drawing both locals and travelers to lively, makeshift dining tables.
