Detailed Itinerary: Day by Day
Day 1:
Cusco - Tipón - Piquillaqta - Andahuaylillas - Cusco
We will pick you up from your hotel between 8:30 and 9:00 am to board our tourist bus heading south of the city of Cusco. During the journey, we will pass through different scenic landscapes.
Our first stop will be at the Tipón Archaeological Park, one of the best examples of agricultural terraces built by the Incas with finely carved stones. These terraces were used to cultivate crops and were irrigated by perfectly designed water channels, giving us a clear idea of the Incas’ great knowledge of hydraulic engineering.
Next, we will visit Pikillacta (Piki = flea / Llacta = town). This archaeological complex, built with adobe, was constructed by the Wari culture and is one of the best-preserved pre-Inca sites. This culture, in its expansion efforts, aimed to reach the city of Cusco due to its large population.
Continuing our journey, we will visit the beautiful town of Andahuaylillas, where one of the most stunning colonial temples stands, known as the “Sistine Chapel of America.” Inside, you will find beautiful decorations and impressive mural paintings.

After four years and US$1.5 million, the restoration of the Church of San Pedro in the remote Andean village of Andahuaylillas, a priceless colonial art treasure showcasing the "Andean Baroque", has been completed. With the backing of the World Monuments Fund and regional and national authorities, restorers tackled the ill effects of earthquakes, shoddy restorations, centuries of grime and even bat droppings.
