Detailed Itinerary: Day by Day
Day 1:
Cusco - Urubamba - Ollantaytambo - Cusco
Pickup and Transfer to the Sacred Valley (8:30 AM): We begin the excursion with pickup from your hotel in Cusco. We will board our tourist transportation towards our private base in Urubamba (approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes of travel), enjoying views of the Andes mountain range and picturesque valley towns along the way.
Safety Briefing and Equipment Fitting: Upon arrival at our private riverside launch site on the Vilcanota River, our specialized guide will provide a safety briefing covering paddling commands and first aid. You will then be fitted with complete technical gear (wetsuit, helmet, life jacket, and windbreaker jacket).
Rafting Down the Urubamba River: We start by paddling through calm sections of the river to practice commands before heading into the rapids (Classes II and III during dry season, and Class IV+ during rainy season). During the approximately 2-hour navigation, you will enjoy mountain scenery and views of archaeological sites like Ollantaytambo. A safety kayak will accompany the group at all times.
Andean Lunch and Return to Cusco: After finishing the river run, we will enjoy a hearty buffet lunch featuring local cuisine, soft drinks, and hot beverages at our base. Finally, we will board our private transport for the return trip to Cusco, arriving at approximately 5:00 PM.
