Detailed Itinerary: Day by Day
Day 1:
Cusco - Urubamba - Ollantaytambo - Cusco
To begin our activity of the day, Rafting in Cusco on the powerful Urubamba River, also known as the Vilcanota River, we will pick you up from your hotel in Cusco at 8:30 a.m. in our tourist transportation. We will then start our journey toward Urubamba, which will take approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes until we reach the Urubamba River, our starting point. Along the way, you will enjoy beautiful views of the Andes mountain range and small colonial villages.
Once we arrive at our private dock on the Vilcanota River, our specialized guide will give a short briefing about the use of the rafting equipment, first aid safety instructions, and will provide all the necessary gear to begin our rafting adventure. We will then get ready to navigate the Vilcanota River, starting in calmer sections of the river while admiring the beautiful scenery that surrounds us, including Andean mountains covered with vegetation, archaeological sites such as Ollantaytambo, and several colonial villages. During this route, we will experience Class II and III rapids, which include small waves and whirlpools.
Please note: During the dry season (May to December), the Urubamba River usually reaches Class III rapids, while during the rainy season, the water levels increase and rapids can reach Class IV, V, and VI due to frequent rainfall. Depending on the season of your trip, we will have an additional safety kayak and an extra guide. Our adventure on the river will last approximately 2 hours along the exciting rapids of the Vilcanota River. After this wonderful experience, we will have the opportunity to enjoy Peruvian or Cusco gastronomy, also known as Andean cuisine.
Finally, to conclude our adventure in Urubamba, we will board our tourist transport and return to the city of Cusco, passing through the Sacred Valley of the Incas. We will finish our rafting adventure tour in the Imperial City of Cusco at approximately 5:00 pm

After four years and US$1.5 million, the restoration of the Church of San Pedro in the remote Andean village of Andahuaylillas, a priceless colonial art treasure showcasing the "Andean Baroque", has been completed. With the backing of the World Monuments Fund and regional and national authorities, restorers tackled the ill effects of earthquakes, shoddy restorations, centuries of grime and even bat droppings.
