Detailed Itinerary: Day by Day

Day 1: Discovering Willoq

Your immersive cultural journey begins at 08:00 a.m. with a pickup from your hotel in Cusco in our private transport. We will drive through the stunning landscapes of the Sacred Valley toward the historic town of Ollantaytambo, from where we take a scenic mountain detour climbing for about 45 minutes into the high Andes until we reach the traditional, red-poncho village of Willoq (a total travel time of approximately 2.5 hours).

Upon arrival, you will be warmly welcomed by the local community weavers’ association, a cooperative dedicated to preserving centuries-old textile traditions. Here, you will become an active participant in their living history as you observe and learn the intricate process of spinning, washing, and naturally dyeing fine alpaca and sheep fibers using local plants, minerals, and wild insects. The master weavers will demonstrate how they create their famous traditional garments, such as llicllas (intricate capes for women) and iconic ponchos (for men), all hand-woven using the backstrap loom technique.

You will learn to decode their unique pallays—the sacred, ancestral iconographies woven into the fabric that depict local flora, farming cycles, and sacred wildlife like the qente (hummingbird). After a profound, personal connection with this living Inca culture and time to browse their authentic handmade textiles, we will board our private transport and enjoy a relaxing ride back to the city of Cusco, arriving comfortably at your accommodation at approximately 04:00 p.m.
