Detailed Itinerary: Day by Day

Day 1: First Day: Iquitos - Lodge - Navigate in the Amazon River

We will start our Amazon crossing by picking you up from the airport or hotel in Iquitos to make a walking tour of the main places in the city of Iquitos such as the Plaza de Armas, the main church, the house of Fierro and some mansions of the rubber era. After the city tour we will embark on our motor boat to sail for about 15 minutes on the Itaya river to enter the largest river in the world, the Amazon on which we sail to reach the Cumaceba Curaka Inn.

On the way with some luck we can see gray and pink dolphins. Upon arrival at the lodge we will be greeted with a typical drink with some seasonal fruit. Then you will be assigned your room so you can arrange your things and rest a little before the guided tour to recognize the great biodiversity of flora and fauna typical of the Peruvian Amazon, enjoy a typical lunch and we will have some free time to photograph and shoot some birds.

We will return to the lodge to enjoy a dinner before starting with a night walk to appreciate insects, batrachians, and some nocturnal birds.

Day 2: Second Day: Lodge - Rescue Center - Gallito Village

Early morning birdwatching at sunrise, either on foot or by canoe depending on the season, followed by an energizing breakfast. Excursion to the rescue center to interact with rescued boa constrictors, sloths, and turtles. Visit to a traditional sugarcane mill to taste sugarcane rum and molasses. Lunch featuring Patarashca, a typical Amazonian dish.

In the afternoon, visit the riverside village of “Gallito”, where you will experience the authentic Amazonian lifestyle and share time with local families. If weather permits, you will enjoy a spectacular Amazon sunset over the river. Dinner and a relaxing evening at the lodge.

Day 3: Third Day: Lodge - Sport Fishing on the Amazon River - Enjoying the Nature

On our third day in the Amazon, we will start with breakfast at the lodge. Our first activity of the day will be sport fishing along the banks of the Amazon River, where with a bit of luck we may catch some piranhas, catfish, among other species. We will also have the opportunity to observe the Victoria Regia, the largest aquatic plant in the world; it is said that its leaves can support a weight of up to 4 kg.

We will return to the lodge for lunch and then enjoy some relaxation time in the hammock area or the swimming pool available at the lodge.

Before sunset, we will walk around the area observing some trees such as cedar, rubber tree, and the giant Lupuna tree.

Day 4: Fourth Day - Camping in the Jungle

We will start the day with a delicious breakfast, and then get ready as we venture deep into the virgin rainforest, enjoying the local flora and fauna. We will hike for about one and a half hours until we reach the place where lunch will be prepared.

After lunch, we will continue walking toward the Yanayacu River, where we will set up camp and spend the night in tents equipped with mosquito nets. Dinner will be served by the riverbank, while we enjoy the nighttime sounds of the rainforest.

We will wake up in the heart of the rainforest, surrounded by the natural sounds of the jungle, and enjoy a delicious breakfast before having fun fishing along the banks of the Yanayacu River. With some luck, we may catch piranhas and catfish.

Afterwards, we will return to the lodge for lunch and have some free time to rest and pack our belongings before heading back to the city of Iquitos. On the way, we will stop at the Bora community, where they will welcome us and share part of their culture and way of life.
