On this trip we will have the opportunity to learn more about the way of life of the native communities that are within the Amazon jungle, know the Paiche (Arapaima gigas)one of the largest freshwater fish in the world, the cayman Alligators, pink Dolphins, watch the birds in their natural habitat , learn about medicinal plants, Cat's Claw plant, Dragon's Blood, etc.   Sunset in the Amazon Forest, interact with animals and enjoy the cuisine of the jungle.

Detailed Itinerary: Day by Day

Day 1: Amazon River - Yaguas Native Community

The reception will be at the airport in Iquitos, transfer and have a brief walking tour through the streets getting to know some of the most important places (according to arrival time). Then we go to the port to board the boat and sail the Amazon river in houseboats'll  watch (Belen), and different villages that stretch along the banks of the Amazon, we will stop at a fish pond . The Paiche (Arapiama gigas). It's one of the oldest and largest freshwater fishes in the world (they average around 7 feet).During the trip you will also see Cayman alligators and the Victoria Amazonica, the largest water lily in the world, whose leaves reach up to 3m in diameter. Upon our arrival at the botanical lodge we'll refresh ourselves with a welcoming drink made of seasonal fruits and get our room assignments.

We'll then take a walk along the medicinal plants path, where we'll observe and learn about Cat's Claw plant, Dragon's Blood (a sap from the Croton tree), Clove Vines, and other plants prized by local tribes for their curative properties. We have a typical lunch and then relax.

About  3:00pm we will have a brief walking through the jungle to reach the Yaguas Native Community, know their customs, habit, way of life. Participation of tourist to use the blowgun.

Return to the lodge by boat, by the way we will look at the sunset.

Day 2: Birds Watching - Indiana - Mazan - Iquitos

According to the season we'll have a brief walk (Jul - Nov) or boat ride (Nov - July). Birds watching in their natural hábitat. Then we have a good breakfast. Throughout the trip your guide will share with you his knowledge about the jungle's plant and animal life. Then there'll be a river tour where you'll see an anaconda breeding facility, monkeys, and sloths.
throughout the trip we will visit the Indiana coastal District and then we take the typical Moto taxi  transportation to travel through the jungle to Mazan District on the Banks of the Napo river , the main tributary of the Amazon river in Peru.

We continue the voyage to Cumaceba Lodge. We will have a typical lunch. Return to Iquitos, transfer to hotel or airport.

Access to Iquitos

  • By air:  Flight to Iquitos from Lima ( 1 hour and 30 minutes), Tarapoto (50 minutes), Pucallpa (1 hour),
  • By river: Its possible to travel from Pucallpa by boat via the Ucayali river (Private service)
  • By road: There is no overland access to Iquitos.
