Rain on the River 4d 3n

We will start our Amazon crossing by picking you up from the airport or hotel in Iquitos to make a walking tour of the main places in the city of Iquitos such as the Plaza de Armas, the main church, the house of Fierro and some mansions of the rubber era. After the city tour we will embark on our motor boat to sail for about 15 minutes on the Itaya river to enter the largest river in the world, the Amazon on which we sail to reach the Cumaceba Curaka Inn.

On the way with some luck we can see gray and pink dolphins. Upon arrival at the lodge we will be greeted with a typical drink with some seasonal fruit. Then you will be assigned your room so you can arrange your things and rest a little before the guided tour to recognize the great biodiversity of flora and fauna typical of the Peruvian Amazon, enjoy a typical lunch and we will have some free time to photograph and shoot some birds.

We will return to the lodge to enjoy a dinner before starting with a night walk to appreciate insects, batrachians, and some nocturnal birds.

The second day of our adventure will start very early to be able to go walking or by boat (depending on the season) to observe birds being the best time to observe the great majority of birds including the Hoatzin which is the only ruminant bird in the world.

We will return to the lodge for breakfast and then visit a local family who raise some species of animals such as boas, anacondas, sloths, tortoises and others.

During this excursion we will also visit a sugar cane juice extraction factory in an artisanal way where we can participate and enjoy some drinks that are made with the juice of sugarcane. In the afternoon we will visit the town of "Gallito" to know their way of life. The dinner will be served at the lodge and we will enjoy it around a bonfire to live a little longer and tell some stories of the Amazon.

Our third day in the Amazon will start with breakfast at the lodge, our first activity of the day will be artisanal fishing on the banks of the Amazon River where we can hopefully catch some piranhas, catfish and others. We can also appreciate the Victoria Regia which is the largest aquatic plant in the world, its leaves are said to withstand a load of up to 4 kg. We will return to the lodge to have lunch and then enjoy a relaxing moment in the area of the hammocks or the pool that the lodge has.

Before nightfall we go through the area observing some trees such as cedar, rubber and Lupuna.

Free morning to rest and relax in the hammocks area enjoying the harmony of the Amazon.

In the afternoon, after enjoying a delicious lunch, we will return to the city of Iquitos, visiting the Bora community, who will welcome us and make us part of their culture and way of life. It is recommended to bring some objects (not money) to exchange with their handmade crafts.

Upon arrival to the city of Iquitos we will leave you at the airport or Hotel.
